And the bells ring out
If you’ve ever been near Central Presbyterian on a Sunday morning, you’ve probably heard the bells ringing out across Cambridge. It’s a Cambridge tradition—each Sunday before church, our bell ringers climb the stairs in the tower to play hymns that set a peaceful, joyful tone for the service.
This summer, we’re adding something a little different.
We’re excited to launch our Summer Chimes Concert Series! Over the next few months, our bell ringers will be putting on three special concerts, each with its own theme and personality. Whether you’re into timeless hymns, classic rock, or stirring Scottish tunes, there’s something for everyone.
Here’s what’s coming up:
June 14 – Richard Neff: Traditional Hymns
Richard kicks things off with a beautiful set of traditional hymns.
July 12 – Ingrid Talpek: Beatles Medley
Ingrid brings some fun to the tower with a bell-ringing take on everyone’s favourite Fab Four hits.
August 9 – Alistair McIlwraith: Songs from the Scottish Highlands
To wrap things up, Alistair will take us on a musical journey through Scotland with traditional Highland tunes.
Each concert will start at 1:00pm and last for half an hour. No tickets, no fuss—just find a nice spot nearby and enjoy the music floating down from the tower.
We hope you’ll join us and share in this special summer celebration of sound!
