What is Christianity

Faith

What is Christianity?

Christianity isn't a political movement, nor is it a social club.

Christianity is a faith and it's built on love and hope. We believe that God made us to love and to be loved. We believe that Jesus Christ is Immanuel, "God with us" and that he is the Son of God. We believe that Jesus Christ died for us. We believe that this was the fundamental demonstration of His love for us and through Him, of God's love for us. And we believe that, on the third day, He rose again - another demonstration of the durability of God's love for us.

We believe that this demonstration — which sits at the very heart of our faith — was and is a gift of grace, a gift of love, offered for every person, not just a select few.

We believe that God desires a relationship with us — all of us.

Worship is our participation in that relationship. It is our response to God’s love, and it is expressed not only in how we speak to God, but in how we love one another. Worship is far more than songs and sermons on a Sunday morning. At its core, it is a way of living shaped by other-centred love. To love God, we believe, is inseparable from loving others.

Want to learn more? We explore that in "What is Worship"

Love too is at the very core of our faith and it is far more than just a feeling, far more than just a second hand emotion.

Want to learn more? In our "What is Love" page, we explore that too.

We believe that love is the very foundation of our faith and through this love and an ongoing relationship with God, eternal life, in the presence of God, is found.

You may have noticed that we use the word faith to describe our beliefs rather than religion. Yes, Christianity is a religion, but it's built on faith. Regardless of what we believe, everyone lives by faith in some way. Christian faith is trust in God, rooted in His love and what He has revealed to us.

Want to learn more? In our "What is Faith" page, we explore that topic too.

This is the Good News and we we want to share with others.

These are our beliefs and they lead us to some very big questions. Each deserves its own space to explore.

Below are some of those conversations — start wherever you like.
