With your help, our missions have had a very successful start to the year.
In January, our chile luncheon raised more than $400 for Alejandro’s mission to build a church in Cubulco, Guatemala.
Arcady and the Kiwanis Boys and Girls Choirs performed Handel’s Messiah on Palm Sunday. This concert raised almost $2300 for the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank.
On Easter Sunday, Elsie hosted an Easter breakfast to support the high school children at Rachel’s Childrens Home in Maputsoe, Lesotho. This event raised more than $400.
And at the beginning of June, our garage and bake sale raised more than $1,000. This money will be spent on capital improvement projects that will improve Central’s capacity to host events in support of our missions both at home and around the world.
Thank-you again, not only to all of our hard-working volunteers; but also, to everyone who came out to support our efforts to build a better world.
Over the summer, we are challenging you, as a congregation, to collect 100 jars of peanut butter for the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank.
We also have plans for the fall. We will host a Variety Night in support of the Food Bank on November 8th. We’ve just begun to plan this event. Details will be announced in September. We are also planning an Advent Congregational Dinner in support of Rachel’s Home (yes a Christmas event already) for November 29th. We have a few other ideas in the works and we’ll keep you informed as we work out the details.
If you have a mission story that you would like to share or any ideas that you would like to share with the committee, please contact one of our committee members.
Our committee is : Denise, George, Greg, Doris and Lawrence. Of course, we are always looking for new members.
Thank-you again and Thanks be to God
