Mike’s Lunch Baskett at the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank

Volunteers needed for Mike’s Lunch Baskett Program at the Food Bank

As part of our “local” mission project supporting the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank, we are asking for volunteers to help out with Mike’s Lunch Baskett program. Mike Baskett was a volunteer at the Food Bank who died very young and this program was set up in his honour. Every 4th Saturday throughout the year Central will provide a team of 6 – 8 volunteers to help set up, prepare, serve and clean up after a full hot meal to ~50 – 70 clients in need. Many clients include the homeless and seniors and families with children who have little money left over for food after their rent is paid. All food has been donated to the Food Bank and an amazing chef prepares the meals for us to serve.

Please consider volunteering your time for one or more Saturdays from ~10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. It is a great opportunity to make friends in Central and help our community. If you are interested, we can provide more information for you. Contact Denise McClellan (519-658-5857), Greg Gowing (519-651-1598) or George Barrie (519-621-4283).
