Our friends in the ER at Cambridge Memorial Hospital are running again this year to support Rachel’s Home. This year, they will be joined by a team from Central.
You can help!
Maybe you want to run with us and collect pledges at work. Maybe you want to support one of our runners.
Over the next few weeks, I will introduce you to our team from Central. I will start right here at home. Yes, I am running again this year, but this time, I will be joined by my niece, Jenna.
Together, we hope to raise at least $500 for Rachel’s Home.
And what is Rachel’s Home?
Well it’s our foreign mission at Central. It’s an AIDS orphanage and elementary school in Maputsoe, Lesotho. Lesotho, one of the poorest countries on earth, also has one of the highest rates of HIV infection on earth. One in every four adults in Lesotho is infected with the virus. Life expectancy, though its edging up, is still in the mid-forties and there are still more than 100,000 orphaned children in a country with a population smaller than Toronto.
Central has been there for 10 years, working alongside Hilda, the managing director of Rachel’s Home, to make a difference in the lives of these young children. Rachel’s Home is a tiny orphanage; there have never been more than 50 children and currently there’s only a half dozen or so, but many of its graduates have completed high school and three have graduated from University. These young people are the future and with our help they can make a difference.
Please support our efforts. Sponsor one of our runners. Together we can make a difference.
