What are Sacraments?
That’s not a word that’s part of our everyday vocabulary and it sounds very theological. It comes from the Latin word “Sacrementum”, which means sacred oath.
In the Christian church, sacrements are traditions that are imbued with special meaning. They are symbols of our relationship with God and with his son Jesus Christ. They can be seen as creating or renewing our commitment to a relationship with God, or they can be seen as reminders of God’s commitment to his relationship with us.
There are two sacraments in the Presbyterian Church:
Each of these serve as a renewal of our relationship with God and they are sacred to us as Christians.
