The PD Day program was a lot of fun. Wow, do your kids have boundless energy, or what?
We started with a short lesson on the Parable of the Sower – we are the soil and God’s Word is the seed. We want to be like the good soil – we listen and understand God”s Word and follow it.
We decorated pots and planted our own flower seeds. We are like those seeds: when we come to know Jesus and let him in our hearts, he changes us. We become a new creation – something beautiful for God. (2 Cor 5:17)
Kids then helped clean out the gardens at the side of the church in preparation for spring. I wish I had taken photos. *sigh* Ask them how many snails they found!
After lunch there was baking and free play. Then, as we walked to MacDougall Cottage, kids dropped seeds along the way as we reviewed the lesson of the Sower. MacDougall Cottage kept us busy for an hour – hunting for pictures of wild things, crafting wild things out of socks, and creating fancy bugs out of shiny stones. I couldn’t get them to leave!
In short, we had a great time. I don’t know about your kids, but I slept like a baby last night!
