Rachel's Home Sermon
Rachel's children

Aubrey’s message this week centers on the importance of service and giving, featuring our efforts to share the burdens with Hilda and her team at Rachel’s Children’s Home in Maputsoe Lesotho.

Rachel’s Children’s Home is an orphanage for the child victims of southern Africa’s HIV/AIDS epidemic. The children of Rachel’s Home, come from the mean streets of Maputsoe, Lesotho a border town, separated from Ficksburg South Africa by the Caledon River.

During this service, Aubrey gives you a brief history of our involvement at Rachel’s Home and looks forward toward our future there.

Galatians 6:1-10

Doing Good to All

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load. Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Acts 2:44-45, Acts 5:34-35

44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.

34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while. 35 Then he addressed the Sanhedrin: “Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men.
