You Can Make a Difference
There are many opportunities to share your gifts at Central.
You can teach Sunday School. You can help with the children and youth programs. You can volunteer at one of our events. You can help our families in difficult circumstances. You can be a greeter online or in in-church. You can help the flower guild. You can lend your creative skills to our web-site or our brochures. You can serve on committees. You can help maintain our facility or you can help us reach out through our missions and make a difference in our community and our world.
You can make a difference in so many ways!
Family Ministry
Sunday Morning
With enough volunteers, we can ensure that volunteers need not commit to more than one Sunday per month.
- Nursery (infants to 2 years old)
- Teachers and helpers (classes for age 3 to grade 5)
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School typically runs for one week each summer.
- Group leaders (supervising a group of children)
- Decorating/take down
- Registration
- Station Leaders (running an activity)
Christmas Pageant
- Make costumes
- Build sets
- Help with rehearsals
- Assist youngest children
Special Events
Throughout the year, our family minstry plans special events. Events include Christmas Season and Easter Breakfasts.
- Help set up and take down
- Food planning, purchase and preparation
- Serving
- Assist with games/activities
Youth Ministry
Our highschool (Senior) youth meet on Friday nights, while our middle school (Junior) youth meet on Thursday nights. During the year, special events are also planned.
- Supervise young people
- Food preparation
- Drivers for offsite events
- Teaching/discipleship
- Cleaning/Maintenance
- Social Media/Communications
- Update website information
- Supervision for overnight events (eg. Camping, sleepovers at the church)
Hospitality
Greeters
With enough volunteers, we can ensure that volunteers need not commit to more than 4-6 Sunday mornings per year.
- Ensure everyone receives a warm welcome as they arrive for Sunday morning worship
- Assist newcomers: answer questions, provide directions, help with seating
- Hand out bulletins
Coffee Time

Make Coffee/Tea, set out food, cold drinks, food etc.

Cut/serve cake when we have cake

Clean up kitchen
Hymn Sing Cafe
We host 6 Hymn Sing Cafes per year on Wednesday afternoons.
- Set up dessert table
- Make and serve coffee/tea
- Greet people as they arrive
Newcomer Buddies
Get to know a newcomer(s) and help them learn about Central, invite them to coffee, introduce them to others.
Lunches and Receptions
- Help plan, shop for and prepare food
- Serve food
- Set up and clean up hall
Fellowship & Spiritual Care
Crisis Response
- Make meals
- Help with child care
- Do errands
- Provide housekeeping support
Caring for Others
- Hospital Visitors (CMH Visiting Course required)
- Visit Homebound
- Telephone Ministry to Homebound
- Deliver gift bags to homebound on special occasions (eg. Christmas, Easter etc.)
- Pastoral Visitors (keep in touch periodically with a group of 8-10 people in the congregation by phone, email or in person)
- Drive someone to church
- Prayer Ministry
Fellowship Activities
- Help plan and organize fellowship activities such as Coffee Morning, Games Night, Men’s Breakfast, etc.
Spiritual Care
- Start a small group
- Lead a Bible Study
- Do a workshop on “How to Lead a small group or a Bible Study”
