Let me share with you a personal story.
Two years ago I was part of Central’s team that was preparing to go to Lesotho to build three classrooms at Rachel’s Home. I was incredibly shy and I found it unbelievably difficult to ask people for donations to Rachel’s Home.
On Christmas morning there was a very special present waiting for me. Here’s what I wrote in my journal about that morning.
I got everything that I had asked for to make my travel to Lesotho less difficult.
Then came the big shock:
Jeanette gave me a big donation towards Lesotho. It was, in part, her present to her mom. I never saw that one coming. Jeanette’s donation, coming out of the blue like that, was one of the best presents I’ve ever received. Amazing when you think about it, a present that was given through me to someone else is the best gift that I’ve ever received.
When we reach out to someone in need, we truly do reflect the real spirit of Christmas. The Rachel’s Home Committee, in co-operation with the Missions and Outreach Committee is asking you to reach out again this Christmas to help the children of Rachel’s Home.
Rachel’s Home is going through a very difficult time. Times are very tough in Lesotho and orphanages like Rachel’s Home are bearing the brunt of it as they try to stretch dwindling resources to help more children in need.
Please, give generously.
