Email Scam

Scam Alert

Scammers are out there, and impersonating local pastors is a popular gambit.

An email has been making the rounds from a sender claiming to be Aubrey. This email is a phishing exercise, looking for respondents that can be victimized. There are some tell-tale signs that can be easily spotted.

First, does the request seem out of character? If it does, then it probably isn't from the source that it purports to be. Second, look at the email address. Aubrey's email address is posted on the website (aubrey@cpcmail.ca). This email is from a gmail account that is setup to look like it might be Aubrey's.

Never assume that the sender label is honestly identifying the sender.

Do not respond to these emails.

Instead, report them to the church office at office@cpcmail.ca

If you respond to these emails, the sender (who is not Aubrey) will likely try to solicit a gift card or other cash transaction from you. This is a fraud and a scam.
