The Rugged Hands ministry weekend at Camp Kintail was a big success again this year. 17 men from the congregation attended for all or part of the weekend. We built picnic tables, planted trees, installed insulation and siding, cut down trees, and of course, installed the launch on the beach at Kintail. It was definitely a chilly day; but, the beach was beautiful. It was as white as snow. Oh wait a minute, it was snow.
Yes, it was a long cold winter this year. Anyway, all work and no play does make Jack a dull boy. When the work was complete, several folks tried out the climbing wall and other vertical challenges at the camp.
The evening devotional was a very moving experience with music and conversation dedicated to the wonderful opportunities that our Lord provides for us. Sunday services were led by Bruce Jones. Bruce’s sermon, the story of Jesus appearance, after his resurrection, on the beach at Galliliee was very enlightening.
We shared the camp with the incoming counselors. They were there attending their pre-season orientation. Their presence really brought the camp to life and gave it energy. They welcomed us warmly and were genuinely grateful for the work that we were doing to prepare the camp for them. It was a wonderful and uplifting experience.
