Again this year, Central is hosting its Christmas Market in support of Rachel’s Children’s Home in Maputsoe Lesotho.
This year we will feature the works of a number of members of Cambridge’s Arts community.
Amar Bhuee is 26 year old and from Cambridge, Ontario. She has a love of photography and design.
Amar Bhuee creates unique jewelry and home decor using her own images and photograph. Amar loves to up-cycle and uses whatever she can get her hands on. Amar’s work is bright and playful. When it comes to her photography, she loves to capture the beauty of everyday objects.
Ginny Carnevale is a life-long resident of Cambridge, Ontario. Ginny spends her summer holidays in Northern Ontario surrounded by the landscape that continually inspires her work.
She completed her Fine Art Degree at the University of Guelph, specializing in printmaking, and continues to hone her skills through a variety of courses and workshops. Ginny is continually involved in new artistic pursuits and has exhibited prints, pastels, pen and ink sketches and acrylic paintings in a variety of group exhibitions.
Most recently, Ginny won an Honourable Mention in the 1st annual PRESS juried printmaking exhibition at the Button Factory (Waterloo Community Arts Centre) in August 2012 in Waterloo, Ontario and was a contributing Plein Air painter in A Day and a Night in Hespeler Village: Art meets Music (August 2012). Ginny also exhibited paintings and prints in the Talent Next Door Exhibition in Kitchener, Ontario (March 2012).
Kim Turner was born and raised in Galt. Kim has spent 20 years in the graphic design industry with special attention given to print. Kim is also the co-owner of a small business with Michele Jones, The Relique Studio.
The Relique Studio upcycles and pays special attention to many articles that would have been placed in landfill. Furniture is given a new life, walls decorated with hand-painted murals, many one-of-a-kind creations. Kim has a love of colour, texture and design which are represented in her acrylic, mixed-media assemblages.
In addition, Kim has completed her Graphic Design and Advertising Diploma at Conestoga College with additional courses and associations at Laurier University, Disney and CMG(Colour Marketing Group). The most recent showing of artwork, The Studio Tour which was on September 22 and 23, 2012.
Karen Bakanec has been a resident of Cambridge for the last eight years. Prior to moving to Ontario, Karen lived in Newfoundland and Saskatchewan. A married and stay at home Mom with three children, Karen’s art includes sewing, playing music, photography, and greeting cards. With the beauty of Cambridge as her back-drop, Karen creates one of a kind greeting cards. Central, with its gothic steeple will be the focal point of her art in this show.
She worked in Toronto Ontario for over 20 years as a Mural and Decorative Artist and was featured in many publications such as Canadian House and Home and Canadian Family.
She also appeared regularly on HGTV’s Room Service and Design Inc.
For the last few years she has focused more on putting brush to canvas and has participated in many juried and group shows such as the Beaux Arts Brampton, the Paula White Diamond Gallery, the Lambton Heritage Museum and the Sunrise Gallery juried shows where she received an honourable mention.
The vibrant arts community of Cambridge has had her actively engaged in education and gallery shows. In the short eight months since her move to Cambridge she has taught and taken classes at the Cambridge Arts Centre, participated as one of twelve plein air artists at the successful community event A Day And A Night In Hespeler , and has opened The Relique Studio, a unique upcycle boutique at 71 Dickson Street in Cambridge.
