Bring a couple of jars of baby food next Sunday. It seems so small and so trivial, but who knows where it can lead. I remember volunteering at the Food Bank one Thursday a couple of years ago. A young woman, still wearing her Conestoga College Paramedic in training uniform, was among those I saw that day.
She was building a better future for herself and her children, but she was also learning skills that she could take into our community. I often wonder where she ended up. I wonder, Is she a paramedic now? If I have to call 9-11, will she be among those first responders? Will she be the one to make that crucial difference, when I really need help?
This is what the Cambridge SELF HELP Food Bank is all about. When we donate to the food bank, we’re giving people tools to build a better future.
