Rugged Hands Work Weekend-Camp Kintail
Yes folks, Spring is near! And that means it will soon be time to get to work readying Camp Kintail for a summer of sharing God’s love with our children.
The Rugged Hands Men’s ministry is again hosting a Men’s work weekend and retreat and work weekend April 21st to the 23rd. Yes, we do work hard, but we also find time for play and time for fellowship.
Most of the group heads up Friday night, though there’s always a few that go up Saturday morning. Friday night is a time to chat, and play board games and card games.
Saturday morning, after a great breakfast, we head off to work. Over the years, tasks have included, electrical and plumbing, painting, carpentry, tree planting and much more. Of course, Bruce and Scott head off into the bush, chain-saws in hand to clean up the scrub and remove any trees that pose a hazard. And of course, we build more picnic tables. The need for new picnic tables is never ending.
Another spring tradition is the boardwalk. Each spring we go down to the beach, if the ice is gone, and we bring the boardwalk out of storage. Though we’ve generally broken apart into groups to do the other tasks, this task always brings the team back to work together. It’s a great way to finish the work day.
Saturday evening, after a wonderful dinner, we have someone share the story of his journey to Christ. If you’re shy, don’t worry, it won’t be you. That’s always arranged well ahead of time. This is always an inspiring time.
After our time of fellowship, the cards and games come out.
Sunday morning, we are led in a service of worship and then its time to pack up and head for home.
Ask anyone who’s attended and they will tell you, its an amazing weekend.
Please join us.
