Mums for Mission

Congregational Mission Lunch

In Canada we are looking forward to fall, which means time for mums. In Lesotho they are looking forward to Spring after a very cold winter. For them it means planting season.

We have ordered 200 mums which you can purchase for yourself or a friend. The proceeds will be used to purchase seed and fertilizer for the vegetable garden at Rachel’s Home. The vegetables are used at the orphanage to provide the children with a nutritious plate of food.

To order your mums please complete the insert in the bulletin and hand it to Teresa Osborne or Elsie Botha.

Sunday, September 27th will be a Mission Lunch Sunday. Part of Mums for Mission Sunday is a lunch for the congregation.

Soup will be part of lunch. If you are willing to make

a pot of soup for the lunch please contact Elsie Botha @519-620-4415. Please mark September 27th on your calendar we would like to see you at Central.

Thank you for your support.

PWS & D

Education for Girls in Afghanistan Project

Following the amazingly successful event three years ago, we shall be taking part in the sponsored walk/run/bike ride organized by the Presbytery of Waterloo Wellington to support an important project of Presbyterian World Service and Development. This year our goal is to raise funds for the education of girls in Afghanistan, an urgent project in a challenging social environment. Our efforts, with matching funding from the Canadian Government, will help PWS&D to bring the education that we take for granted to young women who have never known it. Why are we doing it? A few weeks ago we sang Hymn 471, with the great words that go, “They will know we are Christians by our love”. That’s why we do mission work. Please ask Aubrey or Andrew Foster for further information.
