Notes from November Session Meeting

  • Accessible Parking: A group has been investigating ways in which we can improve our accessible parking spots close to the church.  Every Sunday morning, a number of spots are set aside on Melville Street for those with Accessible Parking permits.  In addition we ask the cooperation of everyone in our congregation to leave as many parking spots on Melville open as possible for those who have difficulty walking.
  • Remembrance Day: We wish to thank Stacey Yale, Don Lahey, Grace and Colin for representing Central Church and laying a wreath on our behalf at the Remembrance Day Service in Queen’s Square.
  • Ushers: We are going to start having ushers at our Sunday Services.  Their role will be to ensure that guests and visitors are welcomed at the service and at coffee time, are able to find their way around and have their questions about Central answered.  The Central Cares team (chairperson Sandy Barrie) will be organizing this.
  • National Mission Project: One of our congregational objectives is to have a local, a national and an international mission project.  We have been working very hard on the international project with Rachel’s Home in Lesotho.  Now, as our national project, we are also going to start a partnership with the Chief Sam Cook School on the Tetaskweyak Cree Community in Split Lake Manitoba.  There is a tremendous need there to provide encouragement to the young people to stay in school.
  • Wedding Coordinator: There are a number of weddings scheduled to take place at Central in 2010.  If you are interested in a part-time position as our Wedding Coordinator, please give your name to Lyanne in the office.
