Special Service at Central: On Sunday February 28 at 7 pm the Presbytery of Waterloo-Wellington will be conducting a very special service here at Central Church. The purpose is the recognition of Colin Carmichael, Associate Secretary Communications and Tori Smit, Associate Secretary The Vine for the Presbyterian Church in Canada. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Daniel Cho, Convener of the Life and Mission Agency committee. Aubrey, Emile and our choir will also be participating in the Service. People from across the country will be attending and we encourage everyone from Central to attend.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff at the Alzheimer Society of Cambridge, I would like to thank you for being one of our Hosts during this year’s Coffee Break Campaign. We truly appreciate your efforts which helped us to raise over $26,000! This amount far surpassed our goal of $20,000. All proceeds will directly fund local programs and services.
NOTES FROM FEBRUARY SESSION MEETING
- 2010 Communion Dates: We will share the Lord’s Supper on the following dates in 2010: March 7 (Lent), April 1 (Maundy Thursday evening), May 16, June 20, October 3 (World Communion Sunday) and November 28 (advent). Elders and Pastoral Visitors will be contacting everyone in the congregation in the next few weeks with communion invitations for March 7 and April 1.
- Joint Service: Knox’s Galt will be hosting the annual joint service of the four Presbyterian Churches in Galt on Sunday March 21 at 10:30 am. This is a wonderful opportunity to join together with fellow Presbyterians to worship God and enjoy a time of fellowship. Our choir will be participating and there will be a nursery and Sunday School for children.
- Presbyterians Sharing DVD: We have received a new DVD illustrating the work done through our contributions to Presbyterians Sharing. It shows a number of ways in which the funds are used to start new congregations, reach out to people in need and support mission work in Canada and abroad. We will be showing parts of the DVD at Sunday morning services during the year. The DVD is also available for groups within the church to use at their meetings or events.
- Children’s Ministry Leader: We wish to welcome Stacey Yale as she takes on the role of Children’s Ministry Leader at Central. The Session also wishes to thank the Search Committee for their hard work and dedication during the search process.
